Can I go on Safari in the Wet Season?

The wet season can actually have some advantages. For a start, the rains reduce the amount of dust in the air. This can make life more comfortable for game viewing (particularly when following another vehicle). It’s much better for camera equipment – as long as you stay dry! And your photographs are often crisper and cleaner without the atmospheric dust diffusing the light….
Night time temperatures are milder in the wet summer months, and it can get quite cold at night and early mornings in the winter.
We have already discussed the great ornithology (bird watching) in the wet “green season”, but it also has the best chance for you to see animals with their young.
The Masai Mara in Kenya and camps in Botswana have excellent game viewing all year round. One Botswana camp called Duba Plains, is noted for the highest density of lion in Africa, and offers better game viewing during October through May (the wet) as the Okavango flood waters are lower.
